Harbour Hospice Shop Devonport: a Best Op Shop finalist on Victoria Road

Devonport's Victoria Road is one of Auckland's more charming village strips — ferry terminal at one end, a run of cafes, bookshops and boutiques along it — and the Harbour Hospice shop at number 36 fits right in, mixing retro and vintage pieces with more contemporary fashion, footwear and homeware.

It's built a genuinely strong reputation: reviewers rate it highly, describing it as close to a boutique rather than a typical op shop, and it was named a finalist for Best Op Shop in 2025. Volunteers there have reportedly developed something of a following as informal personal shoppers, keeping an eye out for what regular customers like.

The shop's popularity has led to expansion — a second, dedicated store called Harbour Hospice Dressed opened nearby on Victoria Road, giving the village two hospice shopping options within a short walk of each other. As with the rest of the network, everything sold is donated, with proceeds going toward Harbour Hospice's palliative care services.

It's an easy add-on to a Devonport day trip, particularly for anyone after well-curated secondhand fashion rather than a rummage-bin experience.
