Florence Avenue in Orewa is home to one of the larger Harbour Hospice shops on the Hibiscus Coast, stocking a wide range of used clothing, books, magazines, DVDs, furnishings, kitchen gear, crockery, glassware and electrical goods.
It's built up a solid following, with around 54 reviews and consistently positive comments about cheerful staff, good prices and stock that turns over constantly enough to reward repeat visits. Several reviewers single out the friendly, well-organised feel of the place.
The flip side of that popularity is crowding — more than one reviewer notes the clothing section in particular gets very busy and hard to move around in at peak times, and there have been mentions of purchase limits on some items during busy periods, though staff are generally described as reasonable about it.
Trading Monday to Friday 9:30am to 4:30pm and Saturday 9am to 2:30pm, closed Sunday, it's worth timing a visit for a quieter part of the week if you want to browse the clothing rack properly. As with all Harbour Hospice shops, proceeds go toward palliative care services on the Hibiscus Coast.
