Mercy Hospice Shop Ellerslie: two shops, one favourite for shoes and designer finds

Ladies Mile in Ellerslie is home to two connected Mercy Hospice shops rather than one — a street-level store and an upstairs space — which gives the operation more room to spread out than most single-storefront op shops manage.

The range covers clothing and accessories, trinkets, linen, homeware, kitchenware, books and furniture. One reviewer named it one of their favourite hospice shops outright, singling out a strong crockery section and a particularly well laid-out shoe section that occasionally turns up designer pieces.

Not everything gets praised equally: reviewers note the bric-a-brac and the clothing upstairs run pricier, and that men's clothing is thin compared to the much larger range for women. More practically, the upstairs level isn't wheelchair or pushchair friendly, worth knowing before a visit if that matters to you.

The shops are open seven days, 10am to 4pm, with everything sold going toward Mercy Hospice's palliative care services in Auckland.
